March 8, 2019 at 9:53 pmOMG, I love the third theory about Micah’s story. I thought that might have been where you were going in the non-spoilery part, but I had never thought about it until that moment (though I might have on a more recent reread, after seeing a similar explanation for another story). I had always read it as a straight-up lie. This was a book that had me thinking about it for days afterwards the first time I read it, and now I can’t wait to read it with the third theory in mind.

I think this opens up a whole wonderful conversation about whether or not the author is the AUTHORity on their work,,, if Justine Larbalestier says that reading wasn’t her intention, does it make it invalid?
