Review Policy

Are you a publicist or author interested in having us review your book? Thank you so much for thinking of us! Let’s see if we’re a good fit for each other. 🙂

About Us:

Our audience on teachnouvelle.com and the YA Cafe Podcast is largely teachers and librarians trying to make informed decisions about recommending titles to middle and high school students. For that reason, we only accept requests to review Young Adult titles.

We have an additional mission on our blog and podcast to feature diverse authors, characters, and stories. We believe that love is love, Black lives matter, women’s rights are human rights, and no human is illegal. If you don’t, we’re not a good fit for each other.

Although we favor hard copies so that we can easily share your title via images on our social channels, we also accept Kindle ebooks (.mobi).

How we review:

We cannot guarantee a podcast episode or blog post for every book we read, but we will review your book on Goodreads. We are honest in every book review we write, and we’ll be honest in yours. If we cannot give you 4-5 stars on Goodreads, we will leave an unstarred review.

Want to increase the chances of getting a blog post?

Remember, our blog is for teachers. Please send us your media kit or a list of ideas for integrating this book into a secondary ELA classroom. Check out this blog post for the sorts of ideas we love to share:

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust

What stops us short:

We will do our best to read your book and give it an honest review. We do reserve the right to stop reading in a few instances:

  1. Typos and grammatical errors make it impossible to read comfortably.
  2. It turns out it’s not Young Adult after all.
  3. It becomes clear that you missed our mission statement.

Other than that, request away! Here’s a quick contact form for you to use. 🙂
