Description
This version of Twelfth Night is part of my Shakespeare in 30 collection. Each play in this series has been adapted for teens to tackle in a half an hour. You can use this script for Reader’s Theatre (1-2 class periods), a Staged Reading (one week), or a full production (3-4 weeks+). This resource has been tested and performed with students in grades 6-12. Break a leg!
This abridgment focuses on the mistreatment of Malvolio, with a heavy dose of cultural references for comedy. It leaves behind most of the plot of Twelfth Night and expands out the action with Malvolio, Maria, Sir Toby, and Sir Andrew. Olivia has some lines, but is very peripheral. Roles for 5 students.

“This resource provides the ‘quick & dirty’ of a drama, without the dragging on process of a 2-3 month unit. I also love that it provides teamwork and empathy, as my kids need to continue to realize the world doesn’t revolve entirely around them!” -Victoria R.
