About Me

Hello, teacher friends!

My name is Danielle Hall, and I’ve been teaching since 2009. I have a passion for helping every student find the right book and for helping teachers build diverse classroom libraries.

I also love facilitating collaboration and critical thinking. I’ve spent the last four years building escape rooms for the ELA classroom. I’ve also spent countless hours helping teachers across subject areas create their own. I love seeing the spark of energy and joy as students engage in unique collaborative activities.

If you’re new to the blog, here are three of my favorite posts to get you started:

15 Songs to Use in ELA

Using Escape Rooms in ELA

Analyzing Superheroes in American Literature

Still want some nitty-gritty details? I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Idaho. I got my Master’s in Didactiques des Langues Étrangères (Teaching Foreign Languages) from the Université de Poitiers in France. I’ve taught ELA in Oregon, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico. I’ve taught ESL in Idaho, France, Germany, and Greece. I currently live in Astoria, Oregon with my awesome wife and our awesome cat and dog, Crookshanks and Padfoot. Find me on Instagram @nouvelle_ela.

Happy teaching!
